10 "SHOE, CAP AND WHIP" CHIPS
OF THE SPORTS CATEGORY
OF CLAY COMPOSITION POKER CHIPS
--
THIS IS A CODEFINDER AND SALES
LIST
(To work this codefinder to ID a "shoe, cap and whip" chip, first decide which of the four categories your chip is in -- A, B, C or D. Then go on from there.)
¶ code, colors for sale, price per chip
¶ description of chip |
picture of chip |
A. SJS-HYD -- red, white, blue -- $3 each.
¶ there is a distinctive curlicue, below the hat, formed by the end of the whip. (This is code HYD of the old book; SJS of the new book.) |
|
B. The following three chips have no hatching (engraved lines) inside the opening of the cap, as pictured to the right.
B1. SHS-HXC -- sorry, none for
sale. I have just this one chip.
¶ the whip end dangles around the end of the handle. (This was code HXC of supplement #1 of the old book. It was left out of the new book.) |
|
B2. SHS-HXA -- red, white, blue, yellow
-- $2 each.
¶ there is a space between (a) the line that goes through the end of the handle, and (b) the two bulges that must be the whip end. (cf. SHS-HXD, below.) (This chip was coded HXA in the old book. It was left out of the new book.) |
|
B3.. SHS-HXD -- yellow -- $5
each.
¶ there is no space between the line and the bulges; rather, they line up very nicely (cf. SHS-HXA, above). (This chip was coded HXD in the old book and omitted from the new book.) |
|
C. The following two chips are distinguished by the fact that there is hatching at the top of the opening of the cap, but there is no hatching at the lower part, as seen to the right.
C1. SHS-HXG -- sorry, no dupes.
¶ the horseshoe line runs across the peak of the cap; that is, there is an uninterrupted solid line. (This is code HXG of the old book, and is pictured in the new book under SHS Variation.) |
|
C2. SHS-HXJ -- red, white, blue,
brown -- $3 each.
¶ the horseshoe line is interrupted; that is, it runs behind the peak of the cap. (This is code HXJ of the old book and SHS of the new book.) |
|
D. The following four chips have hatching covering all, or virtually all, of the inside of the cap.
D1. SHS-HXS -- red, white, blue -- excellent
condition -- made with no paint in the engravings -- $3 each
¶ This is the only "shoe, cap and whip" chip that has 4 slits on the right side of the horseshoe. (This was code HXS of the old book and is omitted from the new book.) |
|
D2. SJA-HXM -- red, white,
blue -- $3 each.
¶ This code is distinguished by the curlicue around the whip handle. Also, note the narrow rectange atop the horseshoe and the stripes around the whip handle. (This was code HXM in the old book and SJA in the new book.) |
|
D3. SJA-HXP -- red, white, blue
-- $4 each.
¶ In this code there is extensive cross-hatching below the rectangle atop the horseshoe, and there is horizontal hatching on the sides of the rectangle. (This was code HXP of the old book and, it looks like "SJA Variation" in the new book.) |
|
D4. SHS-HXQ -- red, white, blue
-- $2 each
¶ The rectangle on the top of the horseshoe is rather wide and may or may not have "drippings" (engravings) under the rectange. In fact, one chip side might have the drippings and the other side not. Another unique characteristic of this code is that there is shading (engravings) on the right side of the whip handle. (This chip was coded HXQ of supplement #1 to the old book. It is not included in the new book.) |
