Blue Chip Co. |
white excellent condition The company was started by the Endy family after they sold Paul-son and Co. to the large French gambling supply house Bourgogne et Grasset, which is now named GPI Corp (Gambling Partners International Corp.). The Endy family had founded Paul-son. Blue Chip Co. is headquartered in North Las Vegas, NV. Click here for a better picture of the "flame" mold, which is used on this chip. The flame mold is an exclusive mold of the Blue Chip Co. |

 various colors; my choice,
although you can request any color, and I'll try to provide
it. excellent condition. I obtained these inlay chips in 1991 from the company. In addition to advertising the company (the largest gambling supply house in Europe; still going strong today -- they just took over Paulson and Bud Jones), the chips served as samples of the colors they could fill for chip orders. |

Caro & Fils Sold out |
 chip
color of my choice, in this style. fair condition these are Chipco-like chips with a brass inlay. Adding to the unusual nature of the chips is the very faint embossed greek-key rim mold design, which is "printed over" with the red words. these chips were made by the Burt Co. in 1987-88, just before Burt was renamed Chipco. Caro was a customer of Burt. The chips say "Caro & Fils Casino Supplies" and have their phone number on one side and their telex number on the reverse. Caro is an old, famous gambling supply company that traces its origins to 1789!......... The company was called Gueret & Vallois in the 19th century. It became Briotet in 1903. Always located in Paris, they were the premier European sellers and manufacturers of gambling and billiard furniture and equipment, mother or pearl chips and early plastic gaming chips. After World War I the Briotet's adopted a war orphan named Caro. Eventually he ran the company, and about 1925 changed its name to Caro. About 1990 an American group took over Caro and moved it to St. Ouen, a Paris suburb. Today (2002) it deals only in billiards and no longer uses the Caro name. |

H. C. Edwards sold |
lime mint condition the chips are hot-stamped; no edge spots; they say "H. C. Edwards & Co.. N.Y. casino supplies." H. C. Edwards & Co. chips have the distinctive "H" mold; for more on the company and the mold click here and look at MD-19. |

zbs 341 |
H. C. Edwards | black, red-maroon, blue.
mint this code is for H C Edwards 1-9/16" inlaid chips that have NO edge spots. hard to see -- the word between H C Edwards & Co. and the dice is "quality." |

black mint. Another very unusual chip, another experimental chip that did not take hold. Not in the book. Here I scanned the 1/8th inch edge/end of the chip, not the 1-9/16th inch side/face. This is a black clay chip with a white plastic core (disk) running through the center. It is like a ham sandwich -- black clay bread and white plastic ham. The chip has the "double broken circle" mold and an advertising H. C. Edwards inlay like in zbs, above. For more on this mold, click here and look at MD-99. |

H. C. Edwards | just one chip left. mint great chip. Very rare and unusual. Not in the book. These chips are 1-7/16th inch diameter. When you see one, you will see that it is and looks much smaller than the ordinary 1-9/16th inch casino size chips! Apparently these were experimental chips that never took hold. I know of no other chips this size made by any gambling supply house. I also have these small chips blank in black, but no inlay, which you could have for $20 each. That is, they are the same as the yellow one pictured to the left -- same size, same H-mold, but they are black and have no inlay; mint condition -- the inlay did not fall out; it was made to be flat other than where the H-mold is. |

|
H. C. Edwards | many colors. Each is
different color-wise and edge spot-wise. I can only guarantee
that the chip you get will have colored edge spots. mint this code is similar to zbs, above, but there ARE edge spots (and inlay, of course, and 1-9/16" diameter). |

 many colors,
my choice. this chip is like zbv, above, with the added feature that the inserts (edge spots) are what is known as "inset" -- the insert is surrounded by another different-color insert! (Same H.C.E. embossed rim mold -- not so easy to see in the picture to the left.) |

Spaulding | red, black, gray I am not familiar with this company. I see there was an A. G. Spalding (note the spelling difference) 1895 company listed on page 410 of the book. Research in the internet doesn't show any gambling-related aspects of the Spaulding Co. Rather it produced a new material inheriting the insulating advantages of mica and glass. Today it makes various composite materials and components. Dale Seymour included these chips in the book's gambling supply advertising chips section. Probably they should have been included in the general advertising section. ... ... ....Valued at $15-$19 in the book, but it is not rare at all. |
