The real McCoy --rare, actual prop casino chip used in
1989 James Bond movie "License to Kill." See picture above of this chip
in the opening credits of movie! You will receive the chip in an easily
opened and closed airtite plastic display holder.
DESCRIPTION: Up for action is one $10.00 prop gambling
chip that was actually used in the 1989 James Bond movie "License to Kill."
Unlike the commemorative James Bond-License to Kill-Casino de Isthmus City
chips that were made after the movie came out and have been flooding
eBay, the chip auctioned here was specially ordered by the production company
for this movie and was used in the movie, or at least is from the same set
of chips made for and used in the movie. It can actually be seen as the
same as the one used in the opening credits (see the second picture above).
The chip is the same size, weight and quality as an actual casino chip.
The design is the same on both sides of the chip. These chips can never
be made again (see below for explanation).
I am the only person selling these rare, real prop chips. I
have only a few of them. You might be interested in looking at this defunct
web site page that was selling James Bond Memorabilia. Click this
link. Scroll down that page to see the License to Kill listings. The
chip in my auction here was advertised on that page as follows!: " US $ PLEASE
MAKE OFFERS (Estimate Value 1899.00 US $ )." (Note: I have never seen the
other prop chips on that page. I have never seen them for sale.)
opening credits: To refresh your memory, the movie starts
with British agent/best man James Bond, played by Timothy Dalton, driving
with U.S. drug enforcement agent Felix to Felix' wedding, but drug lord Sanchez
is spotted landing by plane in the Bahamas to take back his erstwhile girl
friend. Bond and Felix jump into a Coast Guard helicopter, capture Sanchez,
fly to the wedding and parachute down for the wedding ceremony! Then, six
minutes already into the movie, the opening credits begin rolling and we
see the famous naked girls in silhouette, a roulette layout and chips You
see all this in the second picture above. Note the $10 chip, the exact same
one as auctioned here. The names appearing in the second picture are some
of the minor cast members in "License to Kill;" Caroline Bliss, for example,
played Miss Moneypenny.
Casino De Isthmus City: Once the movie resumes, Sanchez
escapes to his sanctuary in Isthmus City, where he runs the fictional casino
in the fictional city. Bond pursues, pretends to be a high roller and plays
in the casino.
spurious prop chips: The Paulson company (the largest
casino supply company in the world and owner of their distinctive and famous
hat and cane rim mold) made the chips for this movie. Incidentally, note
the $10 denomination of the chip and the red color of the Casino de Isthmus
City logo. After the movie was released, Paulson manufactured and
sold commemorative home poker chips with the logo in green, and no $10 chip.
Those chips were sold for 65 cents each in the Paulson retail stores. Ten
of them are pictured below. Today, Paulson still makes the chips, but without
the hat and cane mold (that mold is reserved today exclusively for real
casinos). Also, today's Paulson chips don't include the $10.00 denomination
and have the logo in green. ... ... ..... Other chip manufacturers are also
making Casino de Isthmus City chips (apparently there is no copyright on
that name), but, of course, without the hat and cane mold (Paulson has the
proprietary/exclusive right to the hat and cane mold). Also, these other
manufacturers have never made $10 ones; nor have they ever made the logo
in red.
